Empowering Grassroots Women Leaders | Our Fellowship | A Report on Cohort 1

Empowering Grassroots Women Leaders: Learning Journey Report of Cohort 1 documents the first year of SEWA Cooperative Federation’s pioneering fellowship programme for grassroots women leaders from collective enterprises and cooperatives.

Launched in 2024, the residential fellowship equips women leaders from the informal economy with skills in governance, leadership, business development, financial management, digital literacy, and public engagement. Through participatory learning, exposure visits, peer exchanges, and continuous reflection, the programme supports women in strengthening their confidence, decision-making abilities, networking skills, and capacity to build second-line leadership within their organisations.

The report captures the experiences, aspirations, and growth of the inaugural cohort, demonstrating how investing in grassroots women’s leadership can strengthen collective enterprises and contribute to a more resilient and inclusive cooperative movement.
