Women Cooperatives: Building a Resilient and Equitable Future captures the discussions, insights, and recommendations emerging from the National Conference on Women’s Cooperatives held in Pune in June 2025, jointly organised by SEWA Cooperative Federation and VAMNICOM.
Bringing together 140 grassroots women cooperative leaders, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners from ten states, the conference explored the challenges and opportunities facing women-led cooperatives in India. Through plenary sessions and thematic breakouts on leadership, finance, market access, climate resilience, cooperative education, and digitalisation, participants examined how cooperatives can strengthen women’s economic security, support the formalisation of informal work, and build resilient enterprises.
The report presents key learnings, grassroots perspectives, and policy recommendations aimed at creating a more enabling ecosystem for women’s cooperatives and advancing their role in India’s cooperative movement.
