Enabling Digital Inclusion for Women-Owned Collectives: Recommendations for MSME Registration through the Udyam Portal

Enabling Digital Inclusion for Women-Owned Collectives: Recommendations for MSME Registration through the Udyam Portal examines how digital public infrastructure can better serve women-owned collective enterprises and cooperatives.

Drawing on the experiences of SEWA-supported enterprises navigating the Udyam registration system, the note identifies practical barriers related to platform design, language accessibility, account management, integration with other government portals, and awareness of available services. It argues that while digital registration has simplified access to government schemes, many collective enterprises continue to face challenges that limit their ability to fully benefit from these systems.

Through a set of user-centered recommendations, the publication advocates for more inclusive, accessible, and interoperable digital platforms that recognize the realities of women-led enterprises and strengthen their access to markets, finance, government support, and formal economic opportunities.
