Sahakarita Vol. 4 | Our Newsletter

Sahakarita Volume 4 reflects on the legacy of Elaben Bhatt and the journey of SEWA Cooperative Federation as it completed thirty years of supporting women-led cooperatives. Through stories from the Federation’s archives, the edition traces how women workers across trades came together to build enterprises rooted in dignity, solidarity, and collective ownership. It also documents the national workshop Strengthening Solidarity: Enabling Women’s Cooperatives and Collective Enterprises to Thrive, which brought grassroots women leaders, policymakers, researchers, and cooperative practitioners together to shape the Delhi Declaration for Women Cooperators.

By connecting the history of the movement with contemporary policy recommendations, the volume highlights the continued relevance of women’s cooperatives in advancing economic justice, democratic participation, and self-reliance for informal women workers.
