Rural Communication Services for Family Farming in Asia and the Pacific | A Report by FAO

Rural Communication Services for Family Farming in Asia and the Pacific brings together experiences, lessons, and recommendations from a regional consultation convened by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) under the United Nations Decade of Family Farming.

The report explores how communication technologies, community media, and participatory digital platforms can strengthen the livelihoods of family farmers across the region. As part of the publication, SEWA Cooperative Federation’s digital inclusion work is featured as a case study, highlighting how women farmers have used digital tools to access market information, procure inputs, receive weather advisories, strengthen communication within cooperatives, and bridge the gender digital divide.

The report underscores the importance of farmer-centred communication systems, digital literacy, and participatory technology design in building more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agricultural communities.
